Diabetes UK had the opportunity to re-brand two new rooms in their London office on the second floor. The objectives for this space are to bring the brand to life, create an area that showcases our brand on a large scale, foster an engaging and inspiring environment for teams, and consider the versatile use of the room for important presentations. Additionally, it aims to make a great impression on external clients and high-level meeting attendees, showcase the impactful work of Diabetes UK, and ensure the space is neurodiverse-friendly.
Last year, I was tasked with redesigning the 2nd floor of our London office, named after one of our major donors, Steve Morgan.
My assignment was to plan the design for two larger rooms on the 2nd floor. I needed to find a specialist print company capable of delivering the desired effect in the rooms and applying special wallpapers. The objective was to create an environment that reflects our brand’s personality and accommodates business meetings and learning courses within Diabetes UK.
Initially, I liaised with the Building Manager to ensure we had accurate measurements for the rooms. Then, I approached different printers for quotes and lead times, taking material advice from the Building Manager into consideration. The design process incorporated input from various teams, and I consulted with our Neurodivergent Network to ensure the environment would be comfortable for individuals on the neurodivergent spectrum during day-long training sessions. Unfortunately, due to extensive project review involvement, there were delays, but with a looming deadline, I brought this issue to my team’s attention. We managed to rearrange another designer’s schedule to assist me in meeting the deadline.

The renovated rooms received praise from all Diabetes UK employees, and our donor, Steve Morgan, was impressed. The space has been well-received for training purposes, receiving compliments and requests for similar designs in our other offices.
Thank you for reviewing my project! I look forward to hearing your feedback and am happy to answer any questions you might have. If you’d like to discuss it further, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
